The Tauros and its key role in nature
The tauruses play an important role in nature. They keep the landscape open, which would become overgrown in our region without grazing. They do this by pruning shrubs and stripping bark from trees. They also eat and trample woody plants during their vulnerable seedling stage. Finally, they create even more openness by rubbing vigorously against (young) trees. Conversely, Tauruses can also stimulate forest development. For instance, areas trampled open in a closed grass cover provide perfect seedbeds, not only for herbs but also for woody plants.
